Celebrate Australia Day in Southern Sudan

Last Updated (Wednesday, 07 January 2009 09:03)

Over 30,000 Southern Sudanese have chosen Australia as their home, and while we are proud of our Sudanese heritage, we are also proud to be Australians.  Sudanese Australians have built a friendship and connection that has developed and strengthened both within the local Sudanese community and in the wider Australian community.

In this regard, we would like to continue to make a difference to the lives of our community, both in Australia and in Southern Sudan, by strengthening ties between the two communities.

Our goal for this event is to reflect on the values associated with the unique Australian character - the fair go, mateship, fair play, having a go, and a great sense of humour.
